Serene Light - May-June 2006 Edition
| Hierloom |
| By Dorothee Lang and Eric Wrisley |

"you wear
your pain
like a precious amulet
on an invisible chain"
the physician softly said
to the elf of broken hearts
after they had met
in the green room
among the fake harlequins
and the lost heirloom
the elf fell silent and stared at him
grasping the thought
with a trembling wing
"so will you dare to step up
and free my days from the task
of collecting torn luck?"
now for the right answer, for a door,
the physician thought while he followed
the vertical pattern of the tiled floor
yet by the time he returned
he knew there was still a lesson
waiting to be learned
the elf, though, resumed to sing,
unchaining hearts
with the tip of her wing
